Meet her Escort

A Scholar, Athlete, and Leader
It is an honor to introduce Ky’Mani Dow, a standout middle school scholar who recently brought his talents and ambition from Oklahoma City to California. Since his arrival, Ky’Mani has distinguished himself as a young man of exceptional character and drive, making him a perfect escort for Jabberwock candidate, Genesis Abram.
Academic Excellence & Ambition
Ky’Mani is an exemplary student with a visionary mindset. Combining his passion for creative problem-solving with his love for LEGO building, he has set his sights on becoming an Architectural Engineer. His dedication to his studies reflects a disciplined mind and a bright future in design and structural innovation.
Leadership & Community
A devout member of the Omega Gents, Ky’Mani transitioned from the Oklahoma City chapter to the Solano County chapter, where he continues to uphold the organization’s pillars of leadership and manhood. His faith is central to his life; he is an active member of Greater St. Paul, where he serves faithfully in the Children’s Choir.
Character & Strength
Known affectionately as a "gentle giant," Ky’Mani balances strength with kindness. When he isn't in the boxing ring honing his athletic skills, he is recognized by his peers as a loyal friend and a protector. His presence is marked by a unique blend of quiet confidence and genuine humility.
With his commitment to service, academic pedigree, and impeccable character, Ky’Mani Dow embodies the grace and leadership required to stand alongside a Jabberwock candidate.
So what is a Jabberwock?

A Jabberwock is a signature scholarship program and gala held by chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. It is a tradition that dates back to 1925 and serves as both a community cultural event and a major fundraiser for scholarships.
The term "Jabberwock" was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking-Glass, originally conceptualized by the Iota Chapter as a "creative variety show."

1. The Purpose: Scholarship & Service
2. The Season & Cultural Significance
3. The Banquet & Gala
The primary goal of a Jabberwock is to raise money for local youth to attend college. High school students (often called "participants" or "contestants") engage in a months-long program that includes:
-
Educational Workshops: Covering financial literacy, college prep, and etiquette.
-
Community Service: Engaging in local volunteer projects.
-
Fundraising: Participants raise money, a portion of which usually goes toward their own future tuition.
The banquet is the culmination of the "Jabberwock Season." Leading up to the big night, participants attend rehearsals and "cotillion-style" events. It is a period of mentorship where Delta members (the "Sors") guide the young women and men through personal development milestones. For the African American community and the Divine Nine (D9) Greek life, Jabberwock is a prestigious rite of passage. It celebrates the academic and social achievements of young people while reinforcing the Sorority's commitment to "Economic Development" and "Educational Development."
The actual event is a formal, high-profile affair. You can expect:
-
Formal Attire: It is often a "white tie" or formal gown event.
-
The Presentation: Participants are formally presented to the community, often performing a dance, skit, or talent.
-
Crowning of the Queen/King: The participant who raises the most scholarship funds or excels in the program's criteria is crowned the "Jabberwock Queen" or "King."
-
Awards: Scholarships are officially announced and awarded to the winners.
